I have produced a number of paintings directly influenced by the works of the Russian painter, Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky. In this example my influence on the painting remains back in time, as with the example of the Pac-Kan painting. My mind here was more focussed on the developing computer age of the early 1980's and the Scifi that I had been interested in back then. The naming of this painting is in homage to HAL, the onboard computer from the epic film '2001: A Space Odyssey'. This 1968 science fiction film was produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. I still hear that slow, calm, slightly eerie voice in my head sometimes!
